Washington, DC [CapitalWirePR] June 16, 2012 – On Saturday, June 23 from 12pm to 6pm, the Cultural Polo Foundation will host international polo players in the inaugural Cultural Polo Cup. The charity match will take place at the Capitol Polo Club, located at 14460 Hughes Road, Poolesville, MD.

The Cultural Polo Cup was created to promote cultural awareness and raise funds for artistic, cultural and educational foundations in the Washington DC area. The foundation selected the Mexican Cultural Institute as the inaugural charitable recipient.

"We look forward to sharing this great sport with the Washington, DC community," said Nicolas Baca, Cultural Polo Club Co-Chair. "This is truly a unique event where attendees will be able to watch two high goal polo matches, enjoy entertainment, food and divot-stomping while supporting one of the area's finest cultural centers."

Professional polo players Chucho Solorzano, Antonio Madrazo and Gustavo Galvan from Mexico will join Robert Do, President of Solena Fuels, and former Argentine professional polo player Marcos Bignoli and their teams in the afternoon matches.

"We salute this initiative that combines sports, culture and the support for the Arts," said Ambassador of Mexico to the United States Arturo Sarukhan. "The Mexican Cultural Institute, one of our best soft-power tools, does a great job in building bridges in the community and throughout the United States, fostering mutual understanding between both our nations and our peoples. Thank you for supporting it and best of luck to all the players!"

Food vendors will be present, but attendees are encouraged to bring their own tailgate or picnic. Tickets for the event are available at www.culturalpolo.org via LivingSocial.
