INSIDE POLO with Ron Allen
While the start of the high goal season in Argentina is still nine months away teams are already scrambling to improve their chances for next falls competition. Six teams have already committed including defending champion Ellerstina and runner up La Dolfina. Both will be playing at 39 goals since La Dolfina’s Pelon Stirling was dropped to 9 and Ellerstina’s Mariano Aguerre was moved back to 10.
Line up changes are in order for the other four. La Natividad will have a 35 goal team with the addition of Sapo Caset (9) who played with La Aguada last year. His spot will be filled by young Facundo Sola (8), which now leaves an opening on the Magual squad.
Canadian Fred Mannix (8) has picked up Hilario Ulloa (9) and Polito Pieres (8) for his Alegria team. That leaves the Merlos brothers, Agustn and Juan Ignacio, looking for work.
We have yet to hear from Pilara and Las Monjutas on their plans for the Triple Crown. Several 8 and 9 goal Argentines are still available. We’ll keep you posted.
